Lopez Exits With Shoulder Tightness Set For Mri Wed

MLB News: López Exits with Shoulder Tightness, MRI Scheduled for Wednesday

White Sox Starter Departs Early, Status Unknown

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Mike López exited his outing early on Tuesday night due to right shoulder tightness. The team announced after the game that López will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury.

López had been pitching well in his first start of the season, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings and striking out five batters. However, he began to experience discomfort in his shoulder in the fifth inning and was removed from the game.

The White Sox are hopeful that the injury is not serious, but they will not know for sure until after the MRI results are back.

Implications for the White Sox

If López is forced to miss any significant time, it would be a big blow to the White Sox rotation. The team is already without ace Lucas Giolito, who is on the injured list with a hamstring strain.

The White Sox have several other starters who can step into the rotation, including Lance Lynn, Dylan Cease, and Johnny Cueto. However, none of those pitchers have been as effective as López this season.

The White Sox are hoping to get a good report from López's MRI and that he will be able to return to the rotation soon. However, they will need to be prepared to adjust their plans if he is forced to miss an extended period of time.
